Scatterbrain Series 1-51, 2011-2014
Enamel paint on wood
Various sizes

The Scatterbrain Series started in 2011, after a time of intense observation of construction sites around the world. The construction site embodies dynamism and constant change; it’s a state of suspense full of expectations, the promise of the new and a locus of transition amidst the otherwise regulated everyday urban environment. During construction, on the other hand, new, unexpected views in fleeting moments of sudden beauty constantly emerge. In such moments, a scaffolding structure or a roof beam texture becomes a filigree geometric pattern. Our fascination is based on the constructional thinking behind the viewed object. The eroticism of the construction site is based on the interplay of exposure and concealment, which feeds the everyday voyeurism of the urban dweller.
